FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If my state does not have a Director, can I participate in a preliminary in another state?
No, you must participate in the pageant located in your state only. If your state does not have a Director, you can submit an application to apply for an appointed State title. As a State Appointed Queen, you will then move on to represent your state at our National competition in July 2018. State appointed queens have the same responsibilities and sign the same contract as the State Queens. The cost to apply is the same as the cost to participate at the state level. **EXCEPTION: Michigan and Ohio Residents are welcome to participate in any Illinois or Indiana Preliminary pageant**
Can I go directly to State or Nationals without a title or without participating in a preliminary?
Yes, you can participate in a state pageant without competing in a preliminary. In regards to Nationals, we do not accept At-Large Contestants at our National competition. Thus, you must have either (1) won your your age division at state, (2) be in the top 3 runner ups (as Princesses) at state or (3) receive a state appointed title from your Director to participate in our National Competition. ** EXCEPTION: If we are running low in a particular age division at Nationals, it may be possible to participate at National as an At-Large Contestant**
What are the deadlines for preliminaries?
The deadline can be any where from 2-8 weeks before the pageant date. It will depend on the venue chosen for the preliminary. It is recommended that you submit your application and fees as early as possible, not only to make sure that you do not miss the deadline, but also to secure your spot for that pageant date. See your State Facebook Event Page for firm application/fee deadlines. Your Director will send out an email a week before and the day before the application/fee deadline.
Do you accept applications and fees after the deadline?
Yes, as long as we have enough contestants to move forward with the pageant and we have not maxed out in registrations, we would be more than happy to add you as a participant.
If I am already a queen at the State or National level for another pageant system, can I still participate in MQP?
Yes and No.
It is advised that you review the rules and regulations of the pageant system in which you hold a title prior to joining MQP. There are systems that insist that their queens not compete in any pageants while holding a current title. And, there are systems, that may allow title holders to participate in other systems but only at the local level. It is your responsibility to determine the confines of your contract with the other system. MQP's policy is that if you do hold a title with us, you are to fulfill your responsibilities as a MQP queen, regardless of other titles you may hold. In addition, you cannot represent more than one system at an appearance or community service event. Please review our rule and regulations in regards to competing in other pageant systems while holding a title for MQP.
I am not sure if my daughter is ready for a full pageant. How can we involve her without competing in the main pageant?
There are many parents who share your concern. My daughter, although poppin' with personality, is very shy when she is on stage facing an audience. One way to help her overcome her fears is to start small by participating in one of our optional competitions. The optional competitions are separate from the main pageant, so anyone can participate in an optional competition. Plus, it gives them an opportunity to get on stage and get use to the lights and being in front of an audience. The more they get up on stage, the more comfortable they will be and the closer they will be in being ready to compete in the main pageant.
If I am a State Princess, but did not earn a National title at Nationals, do I have to compete in a preliminary the next pageant season?
Yes and No.
If you have aged out of your age division, then yes, you will need to start back at the preliminary level. However, if you have not aged out of your age division, you are welcome to go directly to the state pageant at 1/4 the Entry fee. We are giving a substantial discount to those returning contestants.
Are there any discounts for siblings?
Yes, a 10% discount will be given for each sibling, after the payment of one full entry for participant (sibling).
Do you have a Referral Program?
Yes, please contact your Director for additional information.
